so you can be certain your design is exactly how you want it,
before spending hours sewing something that just "isn't quite right"
Here's how it works:
E-mail me the photo / picture you want converted into a chart, along with your requirements for the finished design - sizing, number of colours, any background changes etc. If you don't have your photo saved onto a PC - don't panic! You can send me your photos - which will be cared for & returned asap!
I can crop photos if required - FREE of charge. I can remove any unwanted background & replace with a solid colour of your choice, please note - I have to charge a nominal fee of £2.50 for this service, as this has to be done by hand to achieve a good result on the finished design. I can also remove any unwanted background features - unless this is a huge amount - I will do this for you FREE of charge.
I can also change your colour photo to black & white if you prefer. This will be at a nominal fee of £1.00
Or into sepia..... Again, this will be at a nominal fee of £1.00
I will then email you a number of proofs for you to choose from - along with any advice relevant to the design, with no obligation whatsoever to purchase. If you're not happy with what you see - you can change any details you want, FREE of charge & I will re-send amended proofs to you.
When you are happy with your chosen proof, I can convert into your chart.
Your chart will include: easy-to-follow instructions - I print all charts quite large on A4, to make the sewing easier! This means you may end up with quite a lot of pages to your chart - but I feel this is preferable than to trying to view symbols in a small font! Some of the other sites offering a chart service will only offer a 4 page chart, which will make the symbols very small & not that user-friendly! Obviously, if you prefer I can print a smaller chart for you!
You will also receive a FULL DMC floss listing, which not only shows the DMC coded threads you will need to complete your project, but also shows the quantities required for your design - most other similar services do NOT include a quantity summary with their charts.
You can choose the approx size of your finished design & the aida count.
You can choose the amount of colours used, from 50-200.
(Usually the design won't need more than a maximum of 50)
DMC can convert a photo to a chart for you direct - (with NO proof service available) at RRP £20.00
& they charge an additional £9.00 for just a plain background change.
Please note - I can't convert to linen projects.....
but CAN convert to any Aida count from 8-24.
A FEW TIPS FOR BETTER QUALITY CHARTS:
With people - head & shoulder shots tend to work best!
Try not to have a fussy or complicated background!
If you're taking photos of children, try to take the photo from just beneath them -
so the shot is taken slightly looking up at them (if they'll sit still long enough)
Likewise with pets (hmmmm)
